Although there are rumors that Google will release a Pixel watch this year in addition to the Google Pixel 3, 3 XL and Google Pixel Buds series, this year, the company announced no plans for smart watch.
This news comes directly from an interview with Miles Barr, director of Google’s Wear OS. Google branded about an hour, “I don’t think we’re at that point yet, right now our focus is our partners.” he said.
Luckily for those who want a good smart watch, the new products are currently in IFA 2018, and many of them even belong to those partners Google has mentioned. But among those who display their products, some of them are not Google partners. For example, Sony will not use the Wear OS when launching a new smart clock called e-paper.
Diesel is launching On Full Guard 2.5, the largest Wear OS-powered smart clock on the market. Even though it’s the biggest smart clock, it won’t have the biggest screen. And with the promised two-day battery life, the battery capacity does not seem to affect smart clock customers.
Although it is sad for those who want Google to show other manufacturers how to produce a smart watch, Google never said it would produce a smart watch. So maybe one day we can see Google’s smart watch.
